after ripping some SACDs, i can now play some native dsd files using a computer.

the new interface card (still under development),

the player software which read and stream raw dsd file,

note the sample format which states, 2822400 MHz sample rate / 1 bit data / 2 channel

but this thing would not be available until this fall, still working hard with some overseas programmer for application development.

another good news is, the original USB interface is now capable of streaming DSD and PCM (with firmware update and new DSD ASIO driver), no new hardware required.

moreover, with the help of a new "plug-in", you can play native DSD using Foobar2000 as well.

playing DSD files in Foobar with DSD capable hardware, streaming native DSD :

if no DSD hardware present, DSD playback will be converted to PCM :

小弟現用SSD fitted KORG MR-1(with DSD signals extract) 去 Buffalo III聽DSD. 不過得64GB(about 30 albums). 用USB先至可以Access到 my full SACD collection

如無記錯 Buffalo III 可直入 DSD signal, 那你只要 USB/SPDIF convertor 再加個 program 就可以馬上有得聽！

remember ESS9018 accepts DSD input but doing DSD to PCM inside ...........

I have no idea what ESS9018 is performing internally.  But at least the connections for DSD and PCM are totally different.
For DSD, Bit clock -> DCK,  Data1 -> D1, D3, D5 and D7,  Data2 ->D2, D4, D6 and D8.  In this way, all 8 DACs within ESS9018
are fully utilized and the gains are good enough for most preamps.

But for Buffalo II, the DSD and PCM are sharing the same input pins.  I really wonder that Buffalo II is not using all 8 Dacs in decoding DSD.

each ESS9018 has 8 dac inside, it is mainly for multi-channel application.

BII has 4 dac elements paralleled for each channel while BIII can use these 8 dac elements individually for a max of 8-channel application.

so basically they are just the same.

just did a vinyl rip (DSD recording) using my Korg recorder.

the result is ok but not great owing to the crappy A/D converter inside the Korg MR-1.

the dac used in the prototype is CS4398 from Crystal (Cirrus Logic).

the USB interface with DSD support (DSD64, DSD128) and PCM (up to 384k/32 bit) is currently cost US$399.

Received the exD USB interface yesterday. It took me only one hour to set it up. A LVDS-HDMI I2S interface was integrated into the exD to send the PCM signals to my Wyred DAC 2.
DSD signals was directly connected to my Buffalo III. I was most impressed with the native ASIO 2.2 driver and the DSD plugin for Footbar 2000. Also, DXD (24/352.8) is just a piece of cake for exD.

Just converted some DSD64 to DSD128 by audiogate. It was confirmed that there is no problem for exD and Buffalo III. The internal clock of exD to process those DSD128 is actually 352.8

多謝版大提點, 我都有用PS3來rip SACD, 不過數量唔多. Rip出來全部都喺DSDIFF(2.8MHZ). 無一首喺DSDIFF(5.6MHZ), 所以用audiogate來covert幾首來玩吓. 心理上覺得5.6MHZ好聲過原本嘅2.8MHZ.

Sorry Mdlover I am not blamed on you missed my enquiry. Cause I don't want buy a lot of equipment back to my home since last month that I heard your DAC that make me very suprised . You just used a very simple circuit convert the digital signal to a unforgortable music. Thats what I looking for. Wish all the best and wait for the new DAC to launch out.

yes, it cost more than usual transformer.

this is another output transformer called "FineMet", it's an amorphous core developed by Hitachi. they are even more expensive........
it is located in the upper left corner of the photo.

you can also see the DAC module is now shielded by mu-metal sheet. the user reported that it is 2dB more quiet with the shield.

I can't tell how they sound because this setup is in the USA.

Finally get a account here and lau ming here.

Using ESS9018 and WM8741, I tap both DAC with DSD out from eXD, surprisingly WM8741 is very outstanding!! but I have to set the dip switch every time switch between DSD and PCM.
